Thelma Rice (Grandmother), now age 92
As a child, starting at age 2 until age 8, I was diagnosed with an unknown skin disease. My parents and grandparents took me to several doctors throughout South Florida trying to find a cure. After several visits to the doctor leaving with no answers and large doctor bills that took both my parents and grandparents to pay. My mother would place socks on my hands to keep me from scratching the open wombs covering my entire body. My mother and grandmother would place cardboard along my arms and tie a piece of cloth around my arm to hold the cardboard in place so that I would not bend my arms and scratch the open wounds during the night. That safe guard did not always work, many mornings my mother would find me lying in a puddle of blood because during the night I would remove all bandages and scratch. The itching is something that I will never forget, I don’t know how to explain it. I can remember being a young girl plastered with sores from head to toe, fluid mixed with blood very thick and sticky would matte my hair together, the fluid would have leaked through the pores of my scalp overnight. The only thing left for my mother to do was to cut my hair.
My parents and grandparents were very concerned, leaving the doctor’s offices feeling confused, sadden and hopeless. My grandmother began to do her research, along with many nights on her knees praying for healing for her “FIRST” grandchild (myself) she was able to come up with her own remedy. I recall watching her mix sulfur, Vaseline, and calamine lotion in a brown wooden bowl, stirring until her arms were tired. She would remove my clothes from my body and plaster me with the ointment. My body began to heal, the wounds begin to close up. Years of this terrible skin disease left very unattractive scares all over my body with my legs being covered with spots. My grandmother and my mother would lotion me each night and day with coco butter to remove the scars.
It was this experience that has always peeked my curiosity about what makes skincare products work, what chemicals like each other, and which ones don't. Skin problems can cause low self-esteem and even withdrawal from friends and family. I don't desire for any person, man or women, boy or girl to feel this empty feeling. I have a love for researching healthy ingredients to create healthy products for healthy skin. I invite you to try my products, all products are made from natural ingredients, no chemicals. No ingredients have been used for animal testing, all products are pure and natural to create healthy skin and a healthy complexion.
